Walter Payton

Dear Family, Friends, & Fans of Walter Payton:

It was my immense pleasure to do this painting for Walter at the time of his retirement in 1988.

I knew then I was in the presence of one of the greatest athletes of our century.  As I got to know more about him, I realized he was also one of the finest men of our time.  Our comfort is that he will live on in our minds and hearts.

It is a tremendous honor to have my signature accompanying his image on canvas for all time.
