What sets this painting apart from the rest is its historical depiction of the evolution of time from Ems Island through Prohibition, the radio and television ages of the 40’s and 50’s, to the brutal Vietnam War. Finally, the painting returns full circle to the progress of the space age and NASA’s Challenger missions, amid the glow of the Statue of Liberty. A focal point of the painting is Rocky Marciano with his championship belt. Separately, the 61 other champions are chronicled by decade with the time periods in American history neatly woven in along the border.
